Mohamed Amine Chatti's ongoing research on Technology Enhanced Learning: NetLearn: Social Network Analysis and Visualizations for Learning
"The most valuable and innovative knowledge is hard to find, and it lies within distributed communities and networks. Locating the right community or person who can provide us with exactly the knowledge that we need and who can help us solve exactly the problems that we come upon, can be an efficient way to learn forward. In this paper, we present the details of NetLearn; a service that acts as a knowledge filter for learning. The primary aim of NetLearn is to leverage social network analysis and visualization techniques to help learners mine communities and locate experts that can populate their personal learning environments."

In Q3, Social Media Business Models and Real-Time Search Took Center Stage
From GigaOm
"Social networking and the real-time web are changing how information on the Internet is consumed, as the ability to disperse and share information through social platforms and do it using real-time tools is shifting the focus of content from “historical” news to real-time events. Such a shift is giving rise to what we’re calling the NewNet, and it will impact everyone with a business presence online. As part of our GigaOM Pro subscription research service, we’ve compiled a look at the major trends and emerging issues for this next-generation version of the Internet in a third-quarter wrap-up."

"1. The web is transitioning from mere interactivity to a more dynamic, real-time web where read-write functions are heading towards balanced synchronicity. The real-time web, as I have argued in the past, is the next logical step in the Internet’s evolution. (read)
2. The complete disaggregation of the web in parallel with the slow decline of the destination web. (read)
3. More and more people are publishing more and more “social objects” and sharing them online. That data deluge is creating a new kind of search opportunity. (read)"
